Courtney + Matt | MARRIED

Oh, where to begin with these two. I met Courtney and Matt for their engagement session through a mutual friend. I loved their session, it was at the beach house Courtney grew up in, along with their two dogs. I was JUST starting out with shooting weddings, and this was my first and last wedding in Rhode Island. We had already moved to Florida but flew back up to Newport to capture this special day for them! (Can't just leave my clients hanging like that, ya know?) These two were meant to be. So fun loving, genuine and in love. Their wedding reflected just that. They were surrounded by so many friends and family, you could feel the love fill the room. Their wedding could have doubled as their high school reunion, because almost all of their guests were from their grade school years. With that being said, I'm sure you could only imagine the PARTY during the reception. It was so fun for us to capture and it kicked off our wedding season with a bang!

Atlantic Resort Newport

First, I must point out that this is clearly NOT Florida. It’s actually Newport, Rhode Island. My husband and I used to live in Rhode Island and this was our last wedding up there. A few things I must point out if you are thinking about this venue: you get a day-of coordinator included, along with no reception fees! The resort is up on a hill so you can see unobstructed ocean views. They have a beautiful pergola on a little field of grass that is stunning for your ceremony, and an amazing outdoor patio area for your cocktail hour with a cozy fire pit. They have two huge ballrooms for your reception, and let me tell you, they are decorated so beautifully. Curtains, mirrors, up lighting, I could go on. A photographers dream honestly.

What did they wear?

We have to talk about Courtney’s wedding dress. It was ONLY $250. When she told me where she got it and how much it was I literally gasped. Genius. I’m all for finding a beautiful dress at an even more beautiful price. It was flowy in all the right spots and the beading was stunning. Lightweight, easy to dance in. I still can’t believe it. She added a long veil and beautiful earrings for the perfect touches. Matt’s navy blue tux was from Men’s Warehouse.

Did you say donuts?

I love when my couples stray away from the usual wedding traditions. Don’t get me wrong, I love a good tradition, but it’s fun to switch it up a bit to match your personalities! Cou

rt and Matt went with a donut wall by Knead Bakery out of Providence, Rhode Island. Knead donuts was one of my fav donut spots back in RI, so we may have taken a donut or two home after the wedding. ;)

I have to say, I am a huge fan of The Faux Bouquet. I’ve been following them on Etsy since MY wedding in 2016. When I saw Courtney’s flowers, I knew I made a mistake not going with them for my wedding bouquet. So so pretty and I love how you can keep it forever! You would never even know the bouquet was faux. Perfect wedding day keepsake if you ask me!
